Germany’s state telephone monopoly Deutsche Bundespost Telekom has won the contract from the government to create a modern communications network linking all government agencies in Bonn and Berlin: the network will encompass transmission of data and images, multimedia conferencing and link computers so that bureaucrats in different places will be able to work simultaneously on the same documents; it will be based on Telekom’s ISDN network and set up to integrate the broadband ISDN network, still in development.
