Expands its UK footprint with the acquisition
South African IT services company Dimension Data has acquired UK-based Microsoft infrastructure and licensing services company Teksys for an undisclosed sum to strengthen its presence in the UK and Europe.
Teksys is a Microsoft Gold-certified partner and holds certifications in advanced infrastructure, networking infrastructure, information worker, licensing, security, and mobility. It provides professional and managed services and holds Microsoft Large Account Reseller status.
DiData said Teksys will become its wholly owned subsidiary and will be integrated with its UK Microsoft Solutions business. Teksys’ Alan Watkins will become managing director of the combined business. The board will consist of representatives from both the companies.
Steve Joubert, group executive of solutions at DiData, said: When Dimension Data launched its Microsoft services business three years ago, the group’s objective was to expand its capabilities and footprint in the Microsoft infrastructure space. The Teksys transaction is aligned with this objective and provides both companies with significant benefits, particularly in their consulting skills base and licensing capability. We have looked for ways to expand our current Microsoft professional services capability in the UK to provide the full spectrum of Microsoft-based services, covering software advice, design and deployment, and related support services.
The announcement is in line with the company’s strategy to expand its market reach through acquisitions. Last December it acquired a stake in Sydney, Australia-based managed services provider BlueFire. In July it agreed to acquire the remaining 44.9% stake in its Asian subsidiary Datacraft for $276m, and in April it expanded its presence in the UAE market with the acquisition for an undisclosed amount of a 51% stake in systems integrator Data Processing Systems.
