DVD Digital Video Disk players have been slower to take off than the industry predicted, with around 300,000 sold in Japan this year and 1.2 million overseas, according to Matsushita Electric Co Ltd. Both Matsushita and Toshiba Corp say they expect sales to double next year. Meanwhile, the DVD Forum, which met in Tokyo last week, has expanded to 122 member companies, with Fujitsu Ltd, Samsung Electric Co and Intel Corp among the new recruits.
