Rather than give all of the business to DEC, Eastman Kodak Co has decided to split its network facilities management business between DEC and IBM: DEC gets the contract to manage and operate voice and data communications facilities for Kodak and IBM takes charge of Kodak’s worldwide Systems Network Architecture data network, in addition to its current project of building and managing a new data centre; as part of the agreement, DEC will offer employment to about 250 Kodak employees and will buy from Kodak the assets needed to support theservices; IBM will take 25 people.
