News: CRM division sold off in separate deal.
Private equity firm Permira-led consortium has completed the previously announced acquisition of eBay’s Enterprise business for a reported $925m.
The consortium also includes Sterling Partners, Longview Asset Management, and Innotrac.
eBay‘s enterprise business was built after it purchased the former GSI Commerce business for $2.4bn in 2011.
The business includes Magento Commerce which eBay claims is a leading provider of e-commerce solutions, Marketing Solutions division which integrates commerce marketing solutions and services business, as well as a customer relationship management division.
As planned earlier, Permira has acquired Magento Commerce and the Marketing Solutions division in association with Banneker Partners.
Permira principal Phil Guinand said: "This transaction adds to Permira’s proven track record of executing corporate carve-outs and working creatively with major technology companies, such as the separations of Genesys from Alcatel-Lucent and NDS from News."
However, in a separate transaction, big data based marketing firm Zeta Interactive acquired eBay enterprise’s customer relationship management (CRM) division which includes email, hosted database, and attribution businesses.
The CRM division of eBay uses data warehousing, email and attribution platform that helps eBay offer more capacity for sending emails and notifications in comparison to the services offered Zeta’s CRM solution.
Zeta expects the transaction to boost its business.
The sale of its Enterprise business to is a part of eBay’s major split which also included the separation of PayPal into a public company.
