Observers say that while Electronic Data Systems won’t get big discounts on the processors it buys from the proposed joint venture with Hitachi Ltd to take over National Advanced Systems, peripherals will come very much cheaper – one analyst estimated to the Wall Street Journal that EDS will save as much as it is paying for the 20% stake – presumably $40m – buy buying peripherals from the venture.
