Electronic Data Systems Corp (EDS) has won a contract to implement a 125,000 user desktop computing system for General Motors Inc. The system, tagged GM OnLine, will see EDS rolling out a centrally managed desktop system to GM sites worldwide. The system will use Microsoft Windows with a Netscape browser and Lotus Notes. EDS will start the roll-out with 90,000 desktops in North and Latin America. A GM spokesperson refused to comment on the value of the deal.
