Continued contributions to OpenStack aim to overcome private and public cloud challenges.
HP added to the OpenStack Kilo release including converged storage management and flash storage technologies.
To help overcomes private and public cloud challenges, such as vendor lock-in, lack of control or customisability and an inability to scale applications for the cloud, OpenStack is being more widely deployed.
HP said its contributions to OpenStack Kilo focus on supporting application-centric, automated, converged storage management.
Another focus has been on helping to make environments which use Kernel-based Virtual Machine service virtualisation technology to be enterprise ready.
The goal is to increase storage and management efficiency in order to reduce acquisition and operational costs in cloud and hybrid environments.
Capabilities such as an evaluator scheduler have been added which improves resources efficiency. Other additions include an Adaptive Flash Cache, thin deduplication with express indexing and Malia files services.
