A consortium of European media, banking and publishing companies have teamed up to launch Europe Online, Dow Jones & Co reported: Meigher Communications Ltd, a New York magazine publisher, is the only US company in the partnership, – its president and co-founder, Douglas Peabody, was a founding investor and vice-chairman of America Online Inc: it looks to start life in six to nine months’ time with between 50,000 and 70,000 subscribers, and it will initially come in English, French and German.
