FileNet Corp, Costa Mesa, California is seeking to widen the business it can do with its optical diskbased image storage and retrieval systems by coming up with a low-end model, the FileNet 3100, that it claims delivers the primary functionality of much larger systems for $135,000, less than half the price. The 3100 uses the same system software as current systems, and is aimed at departmental paper processing, storage and retrieval within departments and branches. 3100 users can upgrade to a top-end 3500.
