Meantime France Telecom chairman Michel Roulet is quite unabashed, saying he sees no reason to speed up the liberalisation of European telecommunications markets and open the market ahead of 1998 in return for European access to the US market: It will probably take a year before we can enter into this agreement; then it will take two years before we will have the full 20 percent – that is 1997, close enough to 1998, Roulet declared.
