Eternus DX90 model to add storage-based data replication capabilities
Fujitsu has added new enhancements to its entry-level Eternus disk storage range, including management software, a new Eternus DX90 model featuring storage-based replication capabilities and the availability of space- and energy-saving base units for use with 2.5-inch drives.
The company said that its new Eternus SF Express management software simplifies operation and maintenance across the full range of Fujitsu Eternus DX entry-level disk storage systems. The software is targeted at small and medium-sized businesses, to ensure that their data is protected.
The Eternus SF Express management software enables the monitoring and management of multiple Eternus DX systems through one centralised console. In addition, it manages advanced copy functions for snapshots and clones, Fujitsu said.
According to Fujitsu, the new Eternus DX90 model adds storage-based data replication capabilities to its entry-level disk storage system line-up. Eternus DX90 systems with the Eternus SF Express management software and remote copy license provide a suite enabling small- and medium-sized businesses to manage storage-based replication with one suite from one source.
Fujitsu said that the future enhancements to the Eternus DX disk storage range come in the form of additional Fibre Channel base models that support 2.5-inch disk drives in addition to standard 3.5-inch models. The alternative models of Eternus DX60, DX80 and DX90 offer higher storage density, each with a 300GB or 146GB capacity.
Helmut Beck, vice-president storage at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, said: “These innovative enhancements to the Eternus DX product family strengthen our leading position in storage with more powerful management tools for small and medium-sized businesses. This enables our customers to better cope with disaster recovery and business continuity issues, plus a lowered total cost of ownership through the use of smaller, denser disk drives.
“The introduction of Eternus SF Express software improves all-round storage ease-of-management, providing even more flexibility when it comes to integrating Eternus storage systems into existing IT environments.”
The base units for the smaller drives are available for Eternus DX60 and DX80 Fibre Channel attached models, and are expected to be available for Eternus DX90 in spring 2010.
