It is unusual for a Japanese company to give up on a business, but Fujitsu America Inc has thrown in the towel on its Fujitsu Microsystems of America unit and has agreed to sell it to Alpha Microsystems Inc, Santa Ana, California for $2.5m. Alpha will continue to buy the microcomputer product line OEM from Fujitsu to ensure continuity to the dealer network and expects to open a San Jose location for the employees that will be transferred.
