Fujitsu Ltd has unveiled the industry’s first cordless phone to include a (backlit) display screen, initially to show the number being dialled for verification, although it could also be used to display a paging message if a radiopage receiver were included: the phone is the first of its type for Japan although a special model was developed for the Australian market last year; it costs $550, and annual shipments of 20,000 units are the target.
