The UK Monopolies & Mergers Commission has widened its investigation of the proposed takeover of Plessey Co Plc by GEC Siemens Plc to cover the potential threat to the UK national interest of the loss of Plessey’s semiconductor research facilities, reports the Intependent: under the GEC Siemens proposals, these would disappear into Siemens.
