Bill Gates is turning to Detroit in his continuing attempt to make the world a Windowed one. He is to donate $2m in cash and strangely enough, software to the Detroit Public Library. Two thirds of the grant will be in the form of Microsoft Corp kit, part of Microsoft’s $16m Libraries Online initiative. Gates will also give the city’s civil and human rights body a $1.5m software grant.
