GEC Plc duly announced its acquisition of electronically-operated petrol pump maker Gilbarco Inc of Greensboro, North Carolina through its GEC Inc subsidiary: GEC is paying $250m for the firm, which did $24.6m pre-tax on sales of $252.4m in 1986 and has operations in UK, Germany, Australia and Brazil.
