US auto giant General Motors has chosen business communications specialist Covisint to support its business-to-business supply chain collaboration of more than 18,000 production and non-production suppliers.
The contract comes as part of GM’s 2006 IT re-sourcing initiative and extends Covisint’s messaging and integration capabilities to GM’s European, Asia-Pacific and Latin American suppliers.
Employing its business now(SM) environment Covisint connects and integrates disparate business systems and technologies, improving collaboration and reducing costs across the supply chain.
Transition and integration efforts for GM’s European, Asian and Latin American supply base will span a five-month period, beginning in the first half of 2006.
