Internet search firm Google Inc has bought an online blog traffic analysis software tool from San Francisco-based consulting firm Adaptive Path LLC for an undisclosed sum.
The tool is called Measure map and helps bloggers analyze how their blog websites are being used by tracking visitors and their activities. The tool, which is built using a combination of HTML and Flash on the client, also traces the origin of links to blogs from third-party websites.
Measure Map is Adaptive Path’s first commercial software product.
Adaptive Path’s founder Jeff Veen, who is also product director for Measure Map joins the Mountain View, California-based Google.
This is Google’s second major analytics play following the launch of its free Web analytics service, which is based on technology acquired from Urchin Software Inc last year.
