Menlo Park, California-based Gupta Corp warns that it will have to take a charge of about $1m in the current quarter as a result of one of its German distributors, AKA GmbH, seeking of bankruptcy protection: the effect of the charge will be to cut net earnings for the June quarter by about $0.05 a share; under German law, Gupta expects the court filing to be followed by mandatory liquidation of AKA’s assets.
