Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based Harris Computer Systems Corp has extended its Night Hawk Series of PowerPC-based real-time symmetric multiprocessing computers with the Night Hawk 6800, scalable from one to eight PowerPC 604 microprocessors. It begins shipping on September 15. Existing Night Hawks, including the 88000-based models, can be upgraded to the new Night Hawk 6800 Series. The Night Hawk 6800 includes a three-tiered memory system for scalable performance, dual VME input-output data paths for optimal throughput, real-time interrupts for microsecond response times, and high resolution timers. It comes in table-top, desk-side, rackmount, full cabinet and ruggedised, and in 5-, 8-, 13-, 19-, and 21-slot configurations. System prices start at $50,079, upgrade prices start at $37,395.
