Harris Corp has pulled out of the Sematech chip manufacturing equipment research venture, saying changes in its focus do not fit the consortium’s goals – Harris is now majoring on analogue and power semiconductors; Harris has contributed 15 workers to Sematech, most of them engineers, and most will return to Harris; meantime Sematech said that Rockwell International Corp has decided to remain a member and that it had been talking with several other US chipmakers about their possibly joining, but that no decision had been reached as yet.
