Hewlett-Packard Co has established a licensing programme for its Printer Command Language used in the LaserJet and other Hewlett printers that will allow companies in the computer and publishing industry to incorporate the language in their products: users of the more than 1m PCL printers will be able to produce documents prepared for the LaserJet and other PCL printers on high-resolution typesetting machines without further modification; Wang Laboratories Inc and Olivetti USA are already shipping PCL-licenced printers with their computers.
