High Level Hardware Ltd of Oxford has gone to Japan to get a version of Common Lisp for its Orion 1/05 Unix-based 32-bit bit-slice minicomputer. The Kyoto Common Lisp was developed by the University of Kyoto in Japan and High Level claims that it is a cost-effective and flexible programming system, adding that the Kyoto Common Lisp on its machine offers comparable performance and speed to the Symbolics 3640 specialised Lisp processor. The Orion supporting Lisp is intended for systems developers, universities, research institutes and research departments wanting to develop expert systems.
