Hitachi Europe Ltd has spearheaded its entry into the UK office automation market with a new range of facsimile machines plus a fresh approach to marketing: over the next five years, the company plans major investment, initially importing goods from Japan, and has headhunted several executives to run the division; the Hifax series product announcement sports a beefy top-end H37 for the larger office while the smaller H17 caters for a more modest environment; at UKP2,000 and UKP1,700 respectively, they feature scheduled automatic transmission enabling users to send information when the telephone tariffs are low, and Hitachi is offering its customers a remote diagnostic service for fault repair.
