Sybase Inc’s iAnywhere unit has said its line of infrared software development kits will support the Infrared Data Association’s IrSimple Protocol and Profile specifications, enabling a new class of wireless devices to exchange data quickly and easily.
Sybase said its IrDA SDK and Multi-Transport OBEX SDK’s will be updated to be compatible with the specification in the first quarter of next year. The company will also unveil IrSimple SDK, a new offering that will enable developers to achieve compliance with the IrSimple standard for new product designs moving forward.
IrSimple is said to enable mobile devices to instantly connect and wirelessly transmit data. Devices that may benefit from the support of IrSimple include the likes of digital cameras, mobile phones, PDAs, and televisions.
Sybase came to have IrDA products in its portfolio thanks to its acquisition of Extended Systems in October 2005.
