IBM Netezza’s suite of analytics appliances supports spatial queries of massive datasets
GIS technology provider Esri’s Geospatial technology and spatial data types will be integrated into the IBM Netezza analytics appliances to give federal agencies and customers in areas such as energy, retail, telecommunications, and health care the capability to query and geospatially analyse enormous datasets at fast speeds.
The storage, processing, a database, and an analytics engine is combined into a single system with the help of new combined offering IBM Netezza’s suite of analytics appliances. The appliances’ data querying capabilities will be merged with Esri ArcGIS geospatial analysis, visualisation, and geoprocessing tools where ArcGIS will provide the visualisation and deep geospatial analysis of the results.
In addition, the new offering for appliances will also support spatial queries of massive datasets.
The customers of Esri and IBM Netezza can geospatially analyse and view petabytes of data within minutes instead of days. Esri with its upcoming release ArcGIS 10.1supports IBM Netezza appliances through query layers.
Esri and IBM are jointly working on product integration via the implementing Esri’s spatial data types within the IBM Netezza appliances.
Esri president Jack Dangermond said IBM Netezza recognises the importance of location as a vital data element in government operations and nearly all industries.
