IBM last week added a wide-carriage version of its new Proprinter II: the II XL is described as a nine-wire utility personal computer printer improving on the speed and ease of use of its predecessor, the Proprinter XL; it provides near-letter-quality printing, all-points-addressable graphics and burst print speeds of 200chps in 10 characters per inch and 240chps in Fastfont; options include an 8Kb print buffer and serial interface, and the thing costs $800 in the US.
