IBM Corp is joining forces with Laser-Pacific Media Corp for joint development of a Moving Picture Experts Group Digital Compression application using the IBM Power Visualization System: terms were not disclosed, but Hollywood-based Laser-Pacific said it had made a multi-million dollar commitment to acquire the IBM technology and related hardware, and hopes that the system will be fully operational by the middle of the year at a facility near the company’s headquarters.
