IBM is digging into its pocket again, making a $684,000 corporate donation to the United Way of Santa Clara County in support of the 100-plus local health and care agencies to which it provides funding – and is encouraging its 9,000 employees at the San Jose manufacturing and development to chip in as well: last year, IBMers complemented the corporate donation to the United Way of Santa Clara County with individual gifts that raised the total IBM donation in this area to $2.6m.
