IBM on Tuesday at the RFID World Conference in Dallas announced new RFID services and software offerings and unveiled a new RFID center in Ireland for internal testing and customer pilots.
The company’s new asset tracking service is intended to track important resources in settings such as chemical or energy plants, health care facilities, and manufacturing environments. IBM said the service could track operational assets, valuable capital assets, and personnel.
The second new product is IBM’s WebSphere RFID Premises Server software designed for high-traffic warehouse, distribution, and manufacturing settings. It integrates data from RFID devices with Premises Server and WebSphere business products, and includes basic tools for duties such as tag reading at dock doors.
The new campus in Dublin joins IBM’s existing network of 10 worldwide RFID centers, the company said in a statement.
