IBM on Friday extended its buying spree to Europe, with IBM France taking a 49% stake in Thomson SA’s Thomson Digital Image subsidiary in an agreement that will see IBM marketing the company’s electronic imaging software, notably its Explore animation application. The two will also work together to develop three-dimensional imaging software to run on IBM hosts. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but Thomson Digital Image employs 65 people and has annual turnover equivalent to about $14m.
