A major part of IBM’s Tuesday announcement to customers – but not to the outside world, was the company’s plunge into Electronic Data Interchange, with products for MVS, OS/2, AS/400 and Systems 36 and 38. IBM has been a leading player in Electronic Data Interchange in Europe for two or three years now, but has used bought-in products. The announcement, full details of which are in pages two and three, inside, was made in some European countries as well as the US, but not yet the UK.
