IBM Corp has announced plans to expand its development and distibution agreement with 3Com Corp (CI No 2,917) – although the statement seems little more than a reassurance to customers that the 3Com relationship is not being abandoned in the wake of IBM’s wider-ranging agreement with Xylan Corp. IBM says that it is now planning to offer all of 3Com’s ONcore High Function Switching modules for its 8260 Intelligent Hub, including those for Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and FDDI. According to IBM, the modules are due to ship from the fourth quarter of this year.
