John W Thompson, general manager of IBM’s Personal Software Products division, whose most important charge was OS/2 when he took the job, is leaving the division to become general manager of the company’s North American sales and service operation. According to PC Week, he insisted his move had nothing to do with the future of OS/2. OS/2 will be a critical part of our plan for delivering Intel solutions; we have no intentions, none whatsoever, of changing the course or strategy that we’re on, he told the paper.
