The original French Smart Card, marketed by Bull and Honeywell Bull as the CP8, has received a major boost with the news that IBM has signed for licences that give it rights to manufacture and exploit the card and the reader worldwide, from Innovatron SA, the company formed by the card’s inventor, Roland Moreno (CI No 960). IBM is planning to offer the readers with its personal computers and for control of modem access to communication networks according to Moreno.
