The consensus seems to be that it will announce the new version of MVS/XA dubbed XB that will liberate hitherto unactivated features in the 3090s, but not the 308X machines – there are too damn many of those things hanging on for IBM’s liking – and that it won’t include the enhanced performance models dubbed F, although some moves on pricing, memory perhaps, are on the cards; also expected are fill-in models such as the 3090-500 – effectively a degraded 3090-600.
