IBM Corp, continuing its reorganizing activities, will be eliminating hundreds of jobs in its North American sales and distribution organization, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. The job cuts come as Big Blue moves to do away with its geography-centered sales model in favor of consolidating sales and distribution between the product and customer service units. The decision to cut workers replaces an earlier decision to offer voluntary job buyouts. The realignment is expected to take effect on January 1.
