IBM has reportedly been given the go-ahead to manufacture its top-end 3090 mainframes in Brazil, with a view to exporting to other Latin American countries as well as selling on the home market: initial investment of $10m is seen, starting early next year, and according to the Brazilian Special Secretariat for Informatics, IBM has committed to manufacturing or procuring at least 50% of the value of the top-end mainframes within Brazil.
