IBM Corp plans to go multimedia mad at this week’s Comdex/Fall in Las Vegas, and will deploy a top-end ES/9021 Model 900 mainframe at Ameritech Corp’s offices in Chicago to act as a large-scale multimedia server for personal computers and workstations at the show: links will be via T-1 lines and show visitors will be able to choose a video stored on the mainframe and start and stop it at any point.
