It must have seemed like IBM Europe’s birthday yesterday: its IBM UK unit was awarded the lion’s share of a UKP53m contract from British Airways Plc, the IBM contribution including four 3090-180Es for the new Galileo shared reservation system, and one 3090-200E for catering, engineering and airport operations, while IBM Europe was formally awarded the $100m or so contract for the hardware for the Amadeus shared reservation system being built by the four big European airlines that use Unisys kit.
