ICL has some significant banking customers in the far-flung corners of its empire, and the company reckons that it now needs to be able to offer automated teller machines. After investigating what was available, it has settled on the ones manufactured by US specialist Diebold Inc, Canton, Ohio, and will market them in countries specified under the agreement. Diebold reports that two of ICL’s customers have already placed orders for the machines: Mid-Med Bank in Malta; and the National Commercial Bank in Jamaica, where 11 terminals have already been installed. Diebold cites figures that suggest that there will be strong growth in international markets for automatic teller machines; it claims 46.1% of the US market.
