Ilog SA has launched Plant PowerOps, PPO, which it said is a bespoke planning system for the manufacturing and production industry that combines Ilog’s business rules management system, optimization engine, and visualization software.
With this latest addition to its PowerOps suite of manufacturing and transportation products, Ilog is targeting the system at the 60 or so manufacturing companies in the Global 500 already using its software to maximize the efficiency of their supply chain and manufacturing plants, as well as new customers.
PPO is an integrated production planning and scheduling solution, which Ilog said is able to deliver efficiency savings of up to 25%, driven by optimization models that take into consideration the resources, activities, and operating constraints of modern manufacturing.
Features of PPO include detailed models that capture the realities of both discrete and process manufacturing, as well as support the interactivity and flexibility needed by decision-makers. Production planners, plant managers, and front-line schedulers can create and compare scenarios, perform what-if analyses, and define warning messages and alerts using a business rule management interface.
Specific features include an Interactive Planning Board based on Ilog’s visualization technology that allows plant managers to validate plans and manage exceptions; what-if analysis and scenario comparison for planning and scheduling; a Solution Generation window with a graphical display of optimization progress on multiple dimensions of cost, level of service, inventory, etc; and pre-defined connectors to SAP and Oracle. Connectors to other systems are also planned.
