Thorn EMI’s Inmos subsidiary has shipped the first working parts of the new IMS T800 Transputer several weeks ahead of schedule to Southampton University and Bristol-based Meiko Ltd; the chipmaker says that over 1,000 companies worldwide are evaluating, or already building machines around, the Transputer.
