Intel Corp has been warning customers that delivery of its new Flash memory chips will be delayed by at least a year, the Wall Street Journal hears, adding that it has been urging customers to seek other suppliers. It is relying on Minebea Co’s NMB Semiconductor Co Ltd to make most of the new chips, and NMB has not yet mastered the process. The news is a particular blow to Conner Peripherals Inc, which is working with Intel to develop packaged Flash cards designed as an alternative to disk (CI No 1,868).
