Intel Corp has decided to offer royalty-free licences on its three patent-pending Peripheral Component Interconnect technologies – the signalling protocol, an improved Interconnect bus with commands for optimising bridge buffer management, and configuration space enable and disable mechanics – everything needed to build Peripheral Component Interconnect-compliant system boards, peripheral devices and chip sets. Key feature of Intel’s local-bus specification adds a third mezzanine bus to which peripheral components and devices can connect.
