IronPort Systems Inc announced the availability of the IronPort C10 Email Security Appliance, which it said is an easy to use, accurate, and affordable appliance designed to protect the email infrastructure of small and medium-sized enterprises.
It said the IronPort C10 is an all-in-one appliance designed to allow enterprises to manage and protect corporate email with minimal administration after installation. Its gateway technology handles the day-to-day problems associated with email. The company said IronPort appliances automatically deal with bounce messages, backed up mail queues and other headaches with no administrator intervention required.
The appliance is deployed at the network perimeter and scans all incoming and outgoing mail against spam, viruses, and other threats. A GUI enables visibility and control, while a web-based user interface enables real-time and historical reporting along with the ability to configure policies, search, and selectively release quarantined messages. End users can directly access and review all spam using the on-board quarantine.
The IronPort appliances use IronPort’s multi-layer filtering technology. The first line of defense is IronPort’s Reputation Filters. Reputation Filters look at the reputation of the incoming mail sever and throttle based on behavior: the more spam-like they appear, the slower they go. Reputation Filters can stop more than 80% of incoming spam, before it even enters a network, IronPort claims.
IronPort’s spam filters are the second line of defense, using algorithms to examine the full context of a message. With this multi-layered approach, IronPort can accurately identify spam messages without blocking legitimate messages, said the company.
The IronPort C10 is available now priced $3,000.
