Japan Systems, one of the many Japanese software houses looking overseas for packaged software, was displaying Sema Group Plc’s MS-DOS micro-based foreign exchange dealing package at the Software Show in Tokyo last week: it recently signed an agreement with Sema’s CAP Financial to be the Japanese distributor of the package, which will sell in Japan for close to $400,000 for a networked configuration; Japan Systems expects to make 30 sales per year and a representative at the Software Show said that foreign exchange dealing is such an international operation that the company does not plan to convert the package to run in Japanese; Japan Systems has ambitions to derive over 50% of its turnover from packaged software by the year 2000.
