Northfield, Birmingham-based Kalamazoo Plc, the business systems, services and products group, has bought the Beeches Management Centre from Cadbury Schweppes Plc for UKP1.8m. Beeches is a self contained custom-built sales and management training centre situated in Bournville and was attractive to Kalamazoo because the company wants to expand its training operations. Up to now, its training has been primarily computer-based, but the Beeches is equipped with advanced training aids including recording, video, and computer facilities and so offers a base from which Kalamazoo can work on becoming a major player in the training consultancy market. The company’s specialist training division, Kalamazoo Training Consultants, provides training in popular software packages and management training consultancy as well as in applications training for the motor trade and intends to build on these fields of expertise. The existing administrative team will remain at the Beeches under the management of Jim Smith, and the Centre will continue to be available to companies that wish to undertake their own training courses there.
