Kokusai Denshin Denwa has applied for Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications approval for an international digital leased line service and teleconferencing service, both to use Intelsat’s IBS business satellites: the plan is to provide links via the digital leased line service between Switzerland and Japan at 516Kbps to 2Mbps – that one is al-ready agreed with the Swiss government; and UK and Japan, at 1,200bps to 2Mbps, to be operated by Cable & Wireless’ Mercury Communications; links are also planned to 40 video conferencing centres in West Germany.
